HOKA Size Guide

Finding the right HOKA size is important for both comfort and performance.

HOKA shoes generally fit slightly smaller than shoes from many other brands. As a starting point, we recommend choosing half a size larger than your usual shoe size. For example, if you normally wear EU 38, you may prefer EU 38 2/3 in HOKA.

Use the size charts below and follow our measuring guide to find the right size.

How to Find Your HOKA Size

Measuring your feet is an easy way to find the right HOKA size. Measure both feet and use the measurement of your longer foot when choosing your size.

Tips Before Measuring

  • Measure both feet, as one foot may be slightly longer than the other.
  • Use the measurement of your longer foot.
  • Wear the socks you normally use for running.
  • If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size.
  • HOKA shoes generally fit slightly smaller than shoes from other brands, so we recommend starting with half a size larger than your usual shoe size.

How to Measure Your Feet

  1. Place a ruler or measuring tape on the floor with the end directly against a wall.
  2. Stand with your heel against the wall while wearing your running socks.
  3. Measure the distance from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe.
  4. Repeat the process with your other foot.
  5. Use the measurement of your longer foot.
  6. Compare your foot length in centimeters with the HOKA size chart above to find your size.

HOKA Wide

Some HOKA models are available in Wide versions. These models provide additional room in the upper and can be a good option if you have wider feet or prefer a roomier fit.

HOKA Wide models are marked with "Wide" in the product name and provide approximately 3–4 mm of additional width in the upper.

HOKA Models That May Fit Differently

Most HOKA models have a similar fit in terms of length, but there are some exceptions. The following models may feel smaller than the standard HOKA fit:

  • HOKA Bondi SR
  • HOKA Mach 6 and Mach 7
  • HOKA Cielo X1 2.0 and 3.0
  • HOKA Speedgoat 7
  • HOKA Tecton X 3 and Tecton X 4
  • HOKA Rocket X 3
  • HOKA Skyward X 2
  • HOKA Mach X 3
  • HOKA models with GORE-TEX, except Challenger 8 GTX
  • HOKA Lifestyle models

New to HOKA? For the models listed above, consider choosing one full size larger than your usual shoe size.

Already wearing HOKA? For the models listed above, consider choosing half a size larger than your usual HOKA size.

Women's Models That May Fit Larger

Some women's HOKA models may feel larger than the typical HOKA fit. For the following models, we recommend choosing your usual shoe size rather than sizing up:

  • HOKA Women's Clifton 10
  • HOKA Women's Arahi 8
  • HOKA Women's Arahi SR
  • HOKA Women's Challenger 8

Finding the Right HOKA Fit

Your running shoes should feel secure around the heel and midfoot while giving your toes enough room to move comfortably.

Remember that the size chart is a guide. The ideal size can vary depending on your foot shape, the socks you wear and the HOKA model you choose.

If you are new to HOKA, start by measuring both feet and comparing the measurement of your longer foot with the size chart above.

HOKA Challenger 8

The HOKA Challenger 8 is a versatile road-to-trail running shoe designed for runs that don't stick to a single surface. Combining the smooth cushioning of a road shoe with the grip and protection needed off-road, it's an excellent choice for routes that mix pavement, gravel, forest paths and light trails.

For the eighth generation, HOKA has added more cushioning underfoot to make the Challenger even more comfortable over longer distances. The compression-moulded EVA midsole delivers a soft and balanced ride, absorbing impact on harder surfaces while providing enough protection when the terrain becomes rougher.

The outsole is designed around the Challenger's hybrid character. Updated multi-directional 4 mm lugs provide dependable traction on gravel and trails without feeling overly aggressive when you return to the road. The new lug pattern also helps create smoother transitions between different surfaces, making the Challenger 8 particularly well suited to mixed-terrain runs.

HOKA has also introduced a new last with additional room through the forefoot and instep for a more accommodating fit. The lightweight 100% rPET engineered mesh upper provides breathability, while a plush collar adds step-in comfort. A durable 3D screen-printed toe cap provides extra protection against rocks and trail debris, and reflective details improve visibility in lower-light conditions.

From running out of your front door to exploring gravel roads and local trails, the HOKA Challenger 8 delivers the cushioning, traction and versatility to keep going wherever your route takes you.

Why we recommend the HOKA Challenger 8

The Challenger 8 is one of HOKA's most versatile running shoes. We recommend it for runners whose routes regularly combine road, gravel and easier trails and who don't need the aggressive traction of a dedicated technical trail shoe. More cushioning and an updated outsole make this generation particularly capable over longer mixed-terrain runs.
